Age’s Site Update For May 2014

Hey guys!

Age here again! First off, I’ll like to say thanks to all of you following my blog. I know I’m “weekly poster” type of person and I don’t really have a set date of when I release a post. With all my projects and other life things going on, I try to keep up as best as I can. No new game post this week because of something I have this week/weekend. However, this post is to highlight some stuff that’s been going up as well as some end of the month things.

So let’s talk Guild Wars 2 first. I’ve been revving up on these posts again to once a week. I try to have a good topic for you guys that’s being talked about or as one of my tin foil hat theories (of which I have that I’ll share soon). Living story is kicking off again so I’m glad I have some content to run around doing. Surprisingly it’s refreshing to do the Crown Pavillion again. Unsurprisingly, I’m frustrated at the Gauntlet again (curse you Liandri!!!!) but I’ll definitely try to finish it this time. Kind of side tracked a bit but all to say that you can look forward to weekly GW2 posts!

Now, onto League of Legends. Some of you may have seen my updated version of my Basics guide. The last bit (jungler) I’ve been holding back because I’ve been recently messing around with a few builds I like. This resulted in some changes for the other lane guides so I want to see if these runes and masteries are up-to-snuff. So that’s why the Jungler guide is delayed. I’ll be revamping the other lane guides if my new setup proves to be better. Of course I still plan to do a final post to all the links to the guide sections.

LCS stuff! Since the summer split has started you can look forward to my weekly summaries of the LCS. I’m even more into now because of the Fantasy LCS Riot is running.

For Heroes of the Storm, I didn’t get in Tech Alpha yet. Hopefully, *fingers crossed*, I can get in in a few months so I can finally try it out. I’ve been trying to stay away from it and most info so that I could get a “newbie” perspective to Heroes so, again, hopefully!

Also, and I have to double check some things on this, I’ll be having a featured section on the home page of the site that has gaming deals! These deals will usually be discounts on selected upcoming game titles. These deals help me and Gamebreaker TV out; so in the future you may want to check out that page when it goes live!

And that’s all for now! Again thanks for following, I rather enjoy scrounging up stuff to write and I hope you guys enjoy it!

Have a good one and stay awesome!

Age’s Site Update For April

Hey all, Age here and I wanted to give an update for the upcoming weeks.

I’ve been posting a lot of Guild Wars 2 stuff lately because ArenaNet is releasing some really good news with their Features Pack as of late. Side note: that wardrobe is one of the best things I’ve heard of this week. The posts will slow down to once a week again when the April Features Pack comes out.

I’ve noticed lately I’ve been getting quite a few hits on my League of Legends basics guide. I feel that it needs an update since Season 4 is different from Season 3 so I’ll be re releasing a Season 4 Basics guide. I renamed the Basics guide that’s out now with Season 3 in the title so both versions will be distinguishable. I’ll just make a post with links to each of the Season 4 guides when I’m done. That will probably be released sometime in April.

I will probably write a review type of thing about games I play that are coming out this year and also do some posts on Heroes of the Storm if I get into alpha/beta (I know quite a few people in alpha at the moment).

LCS week recaps are still going till the end of the split. Speaking of LCS, some other stuff I’ve been doing, besides Gamebreaker writing, is a LoL show called Waypoint for the LoLNationTV YouTube channel. It’s a recap of the news of the week and I work on the LCS portion of the show (writing and editing). Right now we’re focusing on the LCS Big Plays since the show episodes recently got moved to be released on Fridays. There’s also another show on the channel called Summoner Showcase Revival which, you can probably guess, showcases the LoL community’s artistic talents.

I guess that’s all for now. Thanks for reading and happy gaming!

Playing Udyr: What I’ve Learned From Trick2g’s Videos

The most annoying tanky damage kiting melee champion you’ll ever play in League of Legends: Udyr. I had an insanely good time with this champion in a match recently when I applied the play style of Trick2g who is famous in the League community for his Volibear and Udyr. So I decided to break down some of the highlights from my game in this video I made. Hopefully this serves as a mini guide on playing as Udyr.

1) The 4v1 Delay Kiting (0:00 – 1:06)

In the beginning of the video, bot lane was crowded with enemies. As tanky as Udyr is, I can’t 4v1 and expect to live in the early game. At best I could have killed the Jinx or Blitzcrank who were low on health and try to escape or die.

Instead of running to the safety of my tower and then running away while the rest of the enemy team get a free tower bottom lane, I kite back and flash towards the enemy tower in order to make it look like I want to kill Jinx. Naturally, Blitzcrank and Vi who were close by, came back to aid Jinx and Xerath tried to close my escape through tri-bush. This resulted in me kiting a bunch of them in their jungle until only Blitzcrank was chasing me so I called it quits and ran in between two of their towers and took their blue.

This tactic accomplished three main things:

1) Saved the bottom tower from getting destroyed

2) Prevented four enemy players from being helpful to lanes; two of the four which needed to go back to base

3) Helped get bot lane farmed and got mid and bot lanes pushed to the enemy tower at some point

Oh and I stole their blue, so it’s pretty much a win all around.

2) The Flash Gank With A Getaway (1:07 – 1:55)

I saw Xerath was near death and I quickly though of my options:

  • Go straight down mid lane and catch him and flash if necessary
  • Flash over wall, stun then kill him

Going over it in my head I knew Xerath would flash the instant he saw me since he did in my previous ganks on his lane. As a jungler you should note how a player will react to your presence. Also Blitzcrank could have stopped me by knocking me up or pulling me. So the best choice was to flash gank over wall which I did. By the way, a good rule of thumb: don’t recall shop when you’re near death low.

The next part was that I was hesitant in taking Blitzcrank on but I decided to try. Blitzcrank got to turret safety and I was dying to turret shots so I got out of there. Then Vi decides to show up. I take a bunch of damage and Vi had red but I tried to keep stances going in order to keep the passive movement speed up. Luckily, I kited around their red camp and back to in my jungle successfully.

This shows that with Udyr you can really push the limits on how long you engage in fights and the escape potential he has.

3) The Team Fight and Low Health Dive (1:56 – 3:08)

This is after we caught Xerath and got Blitzcrank low. Vi jumps in from mid lane brush as my team was chasing. When Akali and Jinx saw the Vi ult me, they started bursting me. Thankfully I built tanky. I fought for as long as I could then I ran into mid lane brush when I got low.

Jinx tried to run into brush to catch me but realized her mistake when I took her to half health and tried to run. She got to her tower safely so I decided to just go for tower. I immediately thought after my first hit on tower “Wait… I’m Udyr, I can kill that Jinx” and swapped to Bear then Phoenix for kill and Turtle out. I looped back and took mid tower with Morgana and Sona then went for my blue.

This shows that Udyr can take a ton of initial damage for your team, dip out of the fight and come running back in for more or to get away if the fight is too much. Also, it goes to show that Udyr has great diving potential mid game.

So that’s my experience playing Udyr Trick2g style. Massive props to him, I would have never learned to play Udyr this way otherwise. It’s a fun play style that gets results and I’ll be using it when I play Udyr.

Udyr is an awesome tanky melee champion with a great all-around kit for kiting, mitigating damage and dishing damage as proven in the video above. Props to Trick2g for the helpful videos!

Age’s Update: Some Plans For The Future

Hey all. Age here with some news on the blog and life stuff. I recently finished off the LoL Basics guide series and I took a break just to catch up on IRL things.

So right now, I’m gonna let you know a few things that are going down. Day time job is ok, same stuff as always. When I get home from work it’s either I’m writing some thing up for Gamebreaker or I don’t. If I don’t I chill out with games or something or prep for this blog. Weekends really depends. Sometimes I go out, sometimes I stay home. I want to start streaming more LoL and GW2 but for LoL I have to train a bit more with my new mouse and get better as a whole. There’s always room for improvement.

I’ll be writing editorials at Gamebreaker now. They’ll probably be mostly about GW2 stuff. Hopefully they’ll be weekly as I wrote up something for next week and I have something in mind for the week after. Also, I’m trying to reorganize my sleep schedule but I love sleep so much… anyways I’ll try my best on that front.

Also, I’m training for LoL ranked a bit. I really don’t have an interest in ranking myself but… there’s shiny stuff to get! I honestly just want to place Silver somewhere and then get my elo reset so I can redo my placement properly for next season. It’s a bit late to try to go for Gold. Same type of thing going down for Guild Wars 2. The WvW seaon started and I want in on that. Also PvP maps are in development and that might make me play PvP more.

So right now, there’s probably nothing new for a little bit. I plan to go through the LoL guides and polish them up and repost the links in one post so it’s easy to navigate through them. I’d like to do some GW2 profession guides but that might take some time seeing that I mainly play a thief. Of course if something really catches my eye, I’ll definitely post about it ASAP.

So thanks for following me (if you are), I highly appreciate it.  Look forward to more activity in November! I’ll catch you all later!
