Thoughts On League Of Legends Season 6 Spring LCS Semifinals
I decided to release this post before playoffs to have a quick reminded of how teams are fairing. Week 9 of EU and NA LCS solidifies placements and overall how teams are doing before they practice for playoffs.
Alright so first up is H2K versus Origen. It felt a bit like a snowball matches. More so for H2K. Origen however was able to overcome the odds and win the series 3-2. I think Amazing was a huge factor in this series. His Kindred was quite good and he went in and made plays. H2K didn’t do bad at all in my opinion. In particular H2K’s top lane Odoamne did well when he wasn’t behind.
G2 Esports versus Fnatic was a matchup I wasn’t sure of since I didn’t know how well G2 could do in a best of 5. With a falter in the 2nd game G2 did extremely well overall winning the series 3-1. The team fight control was surprisingly fluid with teammates collapsing well. Fnatic in the 2nd game felt like they stood a good chance but they couldn’t repeat that performance.
North America Semifinals
Liquid versus CLG was an experience. I said in my Quarter finals post that if both teams show up either one could win and it would go to five games. It delivered. Most games were one sided but the last 5th match was the best one. Liquid had a great advantage but CLG started clawing it back with Baron plays. In the end it was the double teleport that got Piglet killed that won CLG the series. Both teams showed exceptional team fighting skills.
Immortals versus vs Team Solo Mid was a turnout no one expected. TSM won but with a 3-0 sweep. It felt like Reignover and Huni got a bit shut down but it also felt like they just weren’t all there. Wildturtle did well and Polbelter held his own. The biggest impact on that series was Svenskeren. He was all over the place, snowballing lanes and keeping Reignover down. It was a good sight to see for a player that’s had a not so great split.
Playoff Predictions: Finals
Origen versus G2 Esports. Not exactly sure who’s going to win but I’d say it’s in G2’s favor right now. I think G2 has what it takes to bring down Origen. Despite Origen having the experience it all comes down to Amazing playing well. G2 has great collapse and team fight potential but they tend to overdo it at times which could be bad for them. I feel Kindred will be a contested pick.
CLG vs TSM. A classic. Right now, I’d give it to TSM but it really depends on Svenskeren and if he could keep up his level of jungling for TSM and Stixxay being a solid ADC for CLG. The top lane will be interesting as Darshan and Hauntzer both are exceptional top lanes especially as of late. Again, it’s hard to call but if I had to choose, I’d say TSM. They have a better lane matchup but it’ll all come down to the team fights and the location of said team fights.
