Hey all, sorry for the late post. Life and stuffs. I didn’t get a chance to review all of the matches this week but I’ll put my thoughts into the games I did see.
Europe Week 8
I have to say, the most surprising performance, or lack of in this case, was from SUPA HOT CREW this week. They dropped all four of their games. Not sure why but they weren’t themselves by the looks of things. Another surprising lack of performance came from ROCCAT going 1-3. The best performance came from Alliance going 4-0 in super week. Glad they got themselves together, Froggen must have been very happy. They’ve been inconsistent in past weeks but the 4-0 sweep will be a huge motivational boost for them for Week 9.
North America Week 8
I guess it’s not too surprising that Cloud 9 went 4-0 in the super week. However! It was very surprising that Team Solo Mid went 4-0 in the super week as well. For those who don’t know, TSM’s mid laner Bjergsen still had visa issues so Reginald had to sub in again for super week. The entire team had a ton of pressure to do well. Reginald had to perform to his best and the rest of the team had to be on their game to make up for Reginald due to him being out of the scene for a while. WildTurtle especially had to do well to carry. Surprisingly, Reginald did quite well on Gragas and Lulu and even got MVP for the week. I thought TSM would go 2-2 but I was amazed that TSM pulled through. Hopefully Reginald gained some respect from the non-believers. I was a bit sad for Coast going 0-4, I really felt they were getting into the swing of things. I was also a bit sad for XDG Gaming for the same reason.
Kassadin came out to play and in Europe is won games. In North America Kassadin went pretty much even in the win/lose ratio. Also, I don’t think I’ve mentioned it in past weeks but Aatrox and Evelynn have been really popular as picks in Europe. There’s been quite a few Evelynn picks in NA as well. Aatrox might come back soon in NA as well. Dignitas’s Kiwikid tried a support Amumu in a match vs Counter Logic Gaming… yea… you can imagine how that worked out (they lost). Dignitas’s Cruzer did bring out Jayce which was cool to see again in the LCS.
Predictions For Week 9
Week 9 returns after this week because of IEM Katowice, I’ll be watching to get a grasp of how the other regions are playing right now and maybe I’ll do a post on it next week. Europe… Europe is special. The level of play the teams have are insanely close to each other. That or some teams have good ups and downs but just wow. The average wins needed to get 1st place is 2-3 games although I think Millienium is looking to face relegation. For North America, TSM and Cloud9 really ran away with Super Week and I think it’s safe to say that they’re top two unless CLG mount an upset. EG, Coast or XDG might be looking at relegation if something doesn’t give soon. What are you looking forward to in Week 9 and even IEM Katowice if you plan on watching it?
